Christmas Eve Boxes For The Whole Family That Won't Break The Bank

Christmas Eve boxes are a great way to add some fun on Christmas Eve for the whole family. If you want to do Christmas Eve boxes but don't know where to start, I am here to get you started and don't worry; they don't have to break the bank.

As a stay-at-home mom, I know that money is tight, especially at Christmas time. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't have a little bit of extra fun where ever you can. I found these boxes affordable to add some fun for the whole family on Christmas Eve.

Tips To Keep The Cost of Your Christmas Eve Boxes Low

Here are a few tips for an affordable Christmas eve box.

1. Plan out what to put in each box.

Carefully plan out what you would like to put in each box. Then pick the most inexpensive store to buy those things. This will stop you from over spending at the store.

2. Do not over fill them.

It is very easy to get carried away and put as much stuff as possible in each box. But remember less is more it, and it's only Christmas Eve, they'll be getting enough gifts the next day.

3. Not everything has to be bought.

Not everything has to be purchased from the store. For example, instead of buying movies, I downloaded many Christmas movies off of Netflix for the family to watch. Download some Christmas colouring pages or other kids activities and print them off.

4. Do not spend a lot of money on the box itself.

It is very easy to get carried away by the look of Christmas, however, the reality is that no one cares about the box. They only care about what's inside of it. Do not waste your money on expensive Christmas boxes. Either get the cheapest ones from the dollar store or use boxes that you have and wrap them in Christmas paper, even bags will work.

What To Put In Your Christmas Boxes

Now that we have covered some simple ways to keep the cost down, let's answer the most difficult question; what do you put in the boxes? Well that all depends on the ages of the person getting box. In my family there were three age groups baby, toddler and adult.

Baby

Babies are difficult because they don't do a whole lot most of the time, other than eat and sleep (and cry). But there are some things that you can put in a Christmas Eve box if you want to put one together for your baby.

  • Small Christmas Board Books
  • Pyjamas
  • A Christmas Toy
  • A Toothbrush (if your baby has teeth)
  • Candy Canes (if your baby is old enough, mine was 14 months and had teeth so she could have a candy cane)

Toddler

As your child gets older, more things can be placed in their box but remember, less is more. Here is what I put into my 3 year old sons box.

  • Small Christmas Book
  • Pyjamas
  • A Christmas Toy
  • A Christmas Activity Book
  • A Toothbrush
  • Chocolate
  • Candy Canes

Adult

Adults come with their own challenges because they are more picky about what they like and what they don't like. However I was able to put together some fun boxes for everyone.

  • Christmas knitted socks
Instead of Pyjamas for the adults, I put in Christmas knitted socks because adult pyjamas are expensive. Not all adults wear pyjamas or are very picky as to what pyjamas they wear. By going with knitted socks the adults still have fun, they are inexpensive and they may get more than one night's use.
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Coffee or Tea
  • Christmas Mug
  • Toothbrush
  • Chocolate
  • Candy Canes
